Wedding & Event Lashes
I'm getting married and want lash extensions for my wedding.
How can I make sure I avoid any chance of a reaction for the big day?
First of all, congratulations! If you have never, ever had lash extensions, getting a fresh, full set right before the big day is completely fine!
Most brides prepare for their Lash Look for their wedding a couple of months leading up to their wedding date. This is so they can try out different lash styles, and see how they like the look of their lash extensions before committing to it for their wedding.
If you'd like to start getting lashes to prepare for your wedding, please be sure to plan out your appointments; this means scheduling your initial full set and at least 2-3 fills before the date of your wedding.
When should I book my lash appointment for my wedding/big event?
I always suggest getting your lashes done about 48 hours before the event (before spray-tan appointments, after facial appointments). This timeframe will ensure that the adhesive is completely cured and the lash extensions will be properly bonded without interference from crying (happy tears!), make-up, or spray-tans.
Should I get lashes before or after a spray-tan and/or facial?
Simply put: facial before lashes, spray-tan after lashes.
BEFORE LASHES: If you are planning on getting a facial, get the facial beforehand. Typically, estheticians will use steam during the facial treatment, and steam (moisture and high heat) will reactivate the chemical in the lash adhesive, making the bond weak.
Remember: Lash adhesive does not dry, it cures. High heat (ex. very hot showers, hot yoga, saunas, steam) will negatively impact the lash adhesive that had previously been cured/harden and can result in poor retention. Lash adhesive depends on controlled exposure to humidity, but high flashes of humidity can disrupt the bond that had previously been fully cured.
AFTER LASHES: Spray-tanning should be the last step in getting ready for your big day routine. Spray-tans should be done at least 48 hours after getting lash extensions.
The under-eye patches used to do lashes can take off a newly sprayed tan. Additionally, getting a spray tan immediately before lashes can affect the likelihood of a strong bond of the extensions to the natural lashes since the spray-tan liquid will put a barrier on the lashes. Squeaky clean natural lashes adhere the best to lash extensions.
